This design came from Woodsmith Catalog #83. This is the first chess table that I have built and it is built out of Quartersawn White Oak and Black Walnut. The lid on the chess table opens so that you can store your chess pieces inside and keep them dust free. The hinges are mortised in so that they are hidden from the top. It also has a blue velvet lining to protect the chess pieces when they are being stored. The diameter of the squares is 2 inches.
